We started here in 1998, in a workshop with no signboard. Twenty-seven years and 340 projects later, this is still where the studio is from.
Our home ground is Mannargudi and the surrounding Thiruvarur district. We regularly build across Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Needamangalam, Pattukkottai and Tiruchirappalli, and we take selected projects further afield across Tamil Nadu.
Being local is not a marketing line in construction. It decides whether your site gets supervised twice a week or twice a month, whether the mason who started your house is the one who finishes it, and how fast someone can be standing on your slab when a question comes up.
Four chapters, and the first one surprises people: we do not draw for thirty days. We walk the site at different hours, watch where the light lands, and listen to how the family actually lives. Then we draw — three concepts, never one. Then we build, with the same craftspeople project after project. Then we come back, at six months, one year and three years.
The delta has its own conditions. Water table sits high in parts of Thiruvarur district, which changes how you approach a foundation and a sump. The 2015 floods rewrote what we consider an acceptable plinth level — we led civil work on twelve flood-resilient builds afterwards with raised plinths and engineered drainage, and when the rain returned in 2023 every one of them stayed dry.
Temple-town restoration work has also shaped how we build new. Working granite alongside Vishwakarma master masons teaches a patience with material that carries into ordinary houses.
